Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans offered sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
