Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
