Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Player Response

The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell like this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
