The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in chaos and madness with the same excitement, all while weaving gripping, politically driven narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose work have represented all of those things.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' structure by having a new backdrop and ensemble in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing trust and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a take of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the core of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our mutual bold, visionary style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
