Tottenham Boss Frank Calls Vicario Booers 'Not Real Supporters'
The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Tension on the Manager
Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.
Tottenham let in two goals in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th top-flight home loss of 2025.
But the main talking point was Fulham's second score when the keeper lost the ball well beyond his box.
He came out to handle a high pass and took the ball near the touchline.
But, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the sideline measured at 36.6 metres.
Moments later when the ball went to the keeper again, some Tottenham fans booed him.
The team were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.
A particular of those jeering episodes truly irritated the manager.
"It came to my attention some of our fans apparently booed the incident and booed after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated about the fans' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"Those individuals can't be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."
Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period showing.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally preventable".
"I do understand the fans' disappointment," Hart added. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He's a great team player, he is a real figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.
"He was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the decisive score."
'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match
Italian international the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said after the match that he had to accept the criticism.
"That goal was a error of mine, I take accountability for it," he commented.
"My aim was to kick the ball long and I just hit the ball in a poor manner. It was an more difficult challenge to climb."
He stated receiving jeers "comes with the game".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.
"It is on the team to remain more composed, to focus on ourselves. We are missing in composure and calmness to reverse results. Today is a bad defeat and it's tough to take."
'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Goal Line'
Despite Vicario's mistake, it was not an easy score for Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the second longest-range top division score of the campaign – after Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.
Wilson stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to target.
Ten seconds passed between the keeper exiting of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.
"I felt like the keeper was out of the area for a long time," he remarked.
"It amazed me not one of the back four returned to the goal line. When none of them covered the goal, my interest lit up somewhat.
"Udogie fell too, which gave me a little extra opportunity. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the right contact and place it towards goal. I felt a positive feeling, the moment it left my boot, that it was on the right line."
'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'
Jeering Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
Although the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.
This was their 10th at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared team statistic matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
The side still have home fixtures against Frank's old side Brentford and champions Liverpool to play prior to the end of the year.
Just a single of those wins have occurred after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"When you're down 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to climb," said Frank.
"When you're in a poor run, everything seems to go against you too – the opening was a redirected shot, the next is a error from Vic.
"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have suffered another game. Each fixture has a single story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.
"We just need to keep working. The second half was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."
Tottenham have lost four straight home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.
And they are recording 9.5 shots and three point two efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their poorest averages on file in a single season (since at least 2003-04).
Ex- Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.
"He's got accept the stick," Murphy said. "He has accepted a prestigious role at a major football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.
"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
